ILB MYCHAL KENDRICKS – CALIFORNIA – 5-11, 239
Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year. Not a standard MLB. Moves around a lot. Edge rusher as well as ILB. Even goes to the slot occasionally. At his best as a downhill, attacking LB. Had a great Senior season. He led the Golden Bears in tackles and TFLs, and also added a pair of INTs.
Kendricks plays with a ton of energy and flies around the field. He has good speed and range. Kendricks can be a downhill attacking LB or he can sit back, read plays, and chase the ball. That will help him appeal to a lot of teams. Good tackler. Tries to wrap up his targets. Has pop when he hits. I’m shocked he only had 1 FF in his career. That’s low for a tough, physical player. Really attacks his targets. Has natural strength/power and at times will impress you with the way he fends off blockers.
Good blitzer. Cal lets him attack on a regular basis. Had 3 sacks this year and 8.5 last season. Speed shows up when he goes after the QB. Also has some pass rush skills. Isn’t just running after the QB. Can attack off the edge or up the middle. Will mix in a spin move on occasion.
Effective pass defender. Good feet. Smooth COD. Has good lateral agility, as well as his ability to attack up the field. Has the speed to run with RBs and TEs. He’s fast enough to handle some wide receivers. Doesn’t show great instincts, but has really good vision and is able to fly to the ball when he sees what’s happening.
Career numbers: 260 tackles (155 solo), 36.5 TFLs, 13.5 sacks, 4 INTs, 1 FF, 5 PBUs
Had a small injury that kept him out of the Senior Bowl. Had a great Combine workout, the best of any LB there.

4-3 MLB who could also play WLB for some teams. Should go in the 2nd round, but won’t last far into the 3rd if he does slide a bit.
