Jamell Fleming

2-year starter and very productive player.  Fleming is a physical cover guy and good tackler. Thick build.  Strong player.  Did 23 reps at the Combine and you can see that strength in the way he plays.  Tough, physical.  Loves to press and jam receivers.  Can really give them fits.  Lacks top speed.  Only ran 4.53.  Good workout aside from that.  Showed quickness, explosion, and agility.  Doesn’t rely on his speed on the field so the pedestrian time isn’t a huge factor.  Doesn’t have to be physical.  Can press or play off.  Good awareness in zone. Upright in his backpedal, but has good transition to breaking on the ball. Will hit, tackle.  Finished his career with 7 INTs, 12.5 TFLs, 24 PBUs, and 2 FFs. Fleming was outstanding in the Insight Bowl. He shut down WR Marvin McNutt. Fleming had 7 tackles, 3 PBUs, and an INT. He was physical with McNutt and bothered him all game.  Some teams could look at Fleming as a slot corner.  Comfortable playing in traffic.  Good STer at OU and should do that well at the next level.   Won’t appeal to all teams due to his build/speed.  Should go in the 2nd or early 3rd round.
