Bobby Massie

OT BOBBY MASSIE – OLE MISS – 6-6, 316

Junior.  Heralded recruit who went to Ole Miss and started half of his Freshman year.  Was the starting RT for the next 2 seasons and played at a high level.  Has the size and skill to be a starting OT in the NFL.

Solid pass blocker.  Doesn’t have great feet, but moves okay.  Natural bender and has good lateral agility.  At his best when he’s active with his hands.  Has excellent hand punch.  Watch him against Mingo from LSU and you’ll see Massie just wash him inside on some plays.  Other times Massie lets defenders come to him.  That negates his big frame and 35-inch arms.  Flaw that can be addressed by coaching.

Good run blocker.  Quick out of his stance.  Will bury defenders when he’s got the chance.  Can be really good on the second level.  There are plays when he’ll fire out and get to the LBs in a flash and stick on them.

Only did 22 reps at the Combine so that’s an area that needs to be addressed, but remember that he does have really long arms and that makes the bench press more difficult for him.  Good prospect now and has a lot of room left to grow.  Can be a good starting RT in the NFL. Could get a chance on the left side to see if he could handle that role.  Pass blocking would need to be better.  2nd round player.
